Beginner Sewing >> Advanced Sewing

Join a Sewdeliska sewing class in Perth, WA, as part of a friendly, small group (maximum four) or book a private sewing lesson.
ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME.

Bring your own pattern projects and be guided through the garment preparing and construction process in a light-filled studio.

If you're a beginner, it is advised to start with a Sewdeliska pyjama pant pattern (additional charge at checkout). We will focus on foundational techniques and terminologies.

After that, you may bring an appropriate, beginner/easy sewing pattern. You can buy these wherever fabric is sold. If you're more of an intermediate sewist, you can bring your own projects to class from the outset.

You'll learn how to:

  • Take a few basic measurements of your figure and understand their application
  • Read commercial (tissue paper) patterns (Burda, Simplicity, Sew Easy, McCall's...) and 'Indi', PDF, downloadable sewing patterns and identify material requirements
  • Choose fabrics appropriate for the style (one gets better with experience) and understand the difference between woven and non-woven knits
  • Simple pattern adjustments
  • Techniques for fabric handling, laying up and cutting out
  • Sewing construction methods and cool techniques to go from slow to pro!
  • Fitting your garment and making changes to hone the styling
  • Trouble shoot all those inevitable 'road-blocks' with the assistance of an experienced dressmaker

Cost: $385, 2-2.5hour classes, depending on the session time.

Materials you will need:

  • Sewdeliska Beginner Kit inc. PJ pant pattern for $136 (Value $140, collect in class) OR items on the Materials List if you'd like to source your own. Individual tools and notions can also be purchased via the online shop and in class.
  • BYO 2.25m of a woven cotton style fabric, such as poplin, flannelette (or linen) for the pyjama bottoms. *Please pre-wash your fabric to pre-shrink it. Petites can purchase 2.2m and talls 2.3m.
